Activating your University of Richmond Accounts

Types of UR Accounts

New students will receive their eight digit student ID number in their admission packet. Your Student ID number will be used for your student identification card and may be required at various on campus locations. The other main identification method is the Net ID. Your Net ID will be a combination of two letters, one number, and two additional letters. You will use your Net ID to log into campus computers, to check your UR email (Google Apps) account, and to access BannerWeb (the student records information system). You will need both your Student ID and your Net ID to complete many of the steps on the new student checklist.

Getting Started - Do this now!

  1. To activate the account, go to: https://wwws.richmond.edu/webpass. On the home page, click on the Create New Account button.
  2. Enter the University ID and date of birth in the format MM/DD/YYYY. Click Create your Netid.
  3. Note that at the top right hand side of the screen, it will say "You are logged in as: ". This is your NetID for your network account.
  4. Set a new passphrase for the network account. The passphrase must be a minimum of 16 characters, contain at least one capital letter, one lower case letter, and one number. Click change password.
  5. If the passphrase is set correctly, you will see the message that "Your request was completed." Click the Back button.
  6. Next, you will need to set security questions for your account. Click Password Reset Questions.
  7. Select three different questions from the drop down lists and enter the answers. Click Save My Answers.

After you have completed this process you will be brought to an account summary page, which will include your NetID and University of Richmond email address. Please print or write this down for future reference, as you will need your NetID to access your email account and to submit forms with summer deadlines.
