Summer Advising

An important part of a liberal arts education at the University of Richmond is the relationship between a student and his or her advisor. Nearly all full-time faculty members in the undergraduate schools at Richmond serve as academic advisors, and all students have an assigned advisor from their first day on campus. You will begin to work with your academic advisor during Orientation. This advisor will be assigned to you based on your responses to the Student Information for Academic Advisor Form, so it is important that you complete and return this form prior to June 15.

Since most academic advisors are off campus and unavailable during the summer, we provide summer assistance through two resources to new students as they choose their first semester’s courses:

  • Faculty/Staff Advisors are available in areas that past experience has told generate the most questions
  • Peer Advising Associates (PAAs), trained students working under the supervision of the Academic Advising Resource Center, will be in regular contact with all incoming students providing assistance throughout the summer.

Note that all students considering majoring in the sciences and/or a career in the health professions should contact Dr. John Vaughan (jvaugha2@richmond.edu) before registering for fall courses.
