Orientation Leaders & Advisors
Each year students apply to represent the University of Richmond as an Orientation Leader (OL) & Orientation Advisor (OA). We strive to assemble a dynamic team of student leaders who are passionate about Richmond and eager to help new Spiders with their transition to the university.
New Spiders will be in a small group of around 30 students, led by two OAs. Our OAs are trained to help with your transition to the University both academically and socially. New Spiders will interact with their OAs in both small group settings, as well as individually throughout the orientation experience. OLs work to support our OA staff in the work that they do as they must have past experience working with the University of Richmond's Orientation programs to apply to this position.
OAs guide our new Spiders throughout a variety of New Spider Orientation sessions and programs. They help to make sure students know where they are heading, provide resources and referrals, and help to build a welcoming and inclusive community.
The OA position allows for students to develop their leadership and professional development skills that further complement their University of Richmond experience. Please make sure to read the position description for more information. This is a paid position.
The application for these positions is due January 25, 2026 at 11:59pm. You will move back to campus on Sunday, August 9, 2026 to begin your work if you are offered and accept the OA position. You will have obligations and must be available from Monday, August 10 - Saturday, August 21, 2026 in order to serve in this position.
