I can’t remember my Net ID or Student ID number. What should I do?
Make sure you have reviewed your admission packet for your Student ID number before you activate your Richmond account. If you have problems activating your Net ID or using your student email address, Google Apps, please contact Help Desk. If you have misplaced your Student ID, please contact the Office of Undergraduate Admission.

Is there information about the kind of computer I should bring?
If you’re considering purchasing a computer, or if you have questions about whether your computer meets the recommended standards, Information Services provides recommendations for student computer hardware.
In order to connect your computer to the University network, you will need to install our antivirus software and do some configuring.
In addition, laptop and desktop computers are available across campus for student use.

How can I view my Richmond email on my mobile device?
Many students forward their UR email (Google Apps) to their mobile device, so they are able to keep up with campus correspondence over the summer. Detailed instructions are available on the Information Services website.

How do I register for fall classes?
There are three (3) steps to fall registration for new first-year students: Pre-Registration, Preparing for Self-Registration, and Self-Registration. The details for each step are outlined here. If you have any questions about planning your fall schedule, please contact your Peer Academic Advisor, your Summer Advisor, or a staff member in the AARC.

How do I know which textbooks are required for my fall schedule?
The campus bookstore will post the textbooks required for each course on their website. A complete listing of fall courses should be posted in early August. Students may elect to ship the books to their home or reserve books to be held on campus.

When will I receive a tuition invoice?
Fall invoices will be emailed in mid- to late July. More information about billing is available in the Online Invoicing section of this website.

How to I find out about my roommate and dorm assignments?
The Student Housing office will notify students of their roommates and dorm assignments via email by the end of June. More information about on campus housing, including a list of what to pack, can be found on the Student Housing website.

What should I expect at orientation?
New Student Orientation is required for all new first-year and transfer students, and occurs prior to the start of the fall semester.
During New Spider Orientation, you will:
- Meet one-on-one with your academic advisor, who will help you plan coursework and experiential learning until you declare a major
- Meet and get to know your fellow New Spiders, as well as be guided by anOrientation Advisor (OA)
- Become introduced to the values that our Spider community embodies
- Meet your College Deans and become equipped with a variety of resources available to help you succeed
- Learn about living at the University of Richmond
- Become acquainted with campus policies and procedures

Are there jobs available for students on campus?
Yes, many Richmond students work on campus in a variety of positions. Campus jobs are coordinated through our Student Employment Office. More information is available on the Student Employment website.

Do most students bring cars to campus? Will I need a car on campus? Do first-year students usually have cars?
About 30% of first-year students bring their car onto campus, and by senior year, about 79% of students have a car on campus. In total, 59% of undergraduate students bring a car onto campus, but this rate has been decreasing over the past few years. With the recent increase in transportation options, a car is no longer necessary to go to the city, to the grocery store, to the mall, or to the airport. A large portion of the city of Richmond is accessible through UR Transportation! More information about transportation options, visit transportation.richmond.edu.
